SMITH & HAWKEN® HIGHLIGHT: THANKSGIVING DÉCOR - Set a Festive Scene with Seasonal Décor
The meal is the star of Thanksgiving celebrations, but using décor inspired by the season creates an overall festive feel. According to Jennifer Sypeck, director of trend at Smith & Hawken, "Décor pieces in warm, beautiful fall colors combined with organic shapes, such as gourds, pumpkins, leaves, etc, translate easily from October through Thanksgiving. Add a touch of metallic for a little bit of sparkle."
Sypeck recommends using tabletop décor sparingly, "just enough to enhance the presentation of the food, without detracting from it. Use a few lighting elements inside and out, and a wreath on the front door to offer a warm welcome to guests."

* To create customized tabletop décor, use the various elements in the Harvest-in-a-Box Kit. This great DIY project has all of the elements needed to make place settings, centerpieces or a stunning dried floral arrangement. Follow the included recipes or just let the creative juices flow.
* Mercury glass in copper or green finishes adds warmth and shine to décor pieces and/or lighting.
* For a simple, rustic feel, run small bronze or wooden lanterns down the length of the table or along a sideboard or buffet.
* In addition to warming up the front door, harvest-inspired wreaths can be used on the tabletop as a centerpiece or on a wall in the living room, kitchen or dining room.
